Hi! I'm Maike
A fourty-something year old living in the Netherlands together with my boyfriend Koen and our elderly tuxedo cat Max.
For as long as I can remember I have been crafting all kinds of things. I was that weird kid that preferred to stay indoors folding origami cranes or making polymer clay sculptures ;)

When I was about twelve years old I discovered my mothers sewing machine and made my first ever plushie from a pattern in the "Libelle" (a womens magazine my mom had)
Here he is! His name is Snuf and he's made out of an old cotton sheet. I also made Snuf some clothes, but I like to show him to you in his full glory, because I'm particularly proud of that belly button ;)
Both Snuf and I had no idea he would be the first of many, many more...

All my creatures start out as an idea in my head and then a quick sketch in my sketchbook. I get inspiration from many things and places. I suffer from severe Pareidolia, that means I see faces all the time in everyday objects so I have monsters and other critters in my head all day through.

After I've decided what creature I will bring to life next I will make some prototypes in my home studio. Yes it's always this messy.
Over the years I have made many different types of monsters, animals and dolls. You can check them out in my gallery.

This pretty lady is Zoë. She unfortunately passed away, but we had 15 amazing years together.
